In
addition to our summer clerkship program, the firm also
recruits third year law students and attorneys considering
a lateral move. Each year, we hire attorneys who possess
the intellect, personality, savvy, and character to practice
at KDDK and who desire to make Evansville their home.
Our goal is to provide associates
with the experience and training to effectively serve
clients' needs, participate in the community, and enjoy
a satisfying career in the practice of law. We hire associates
we believe are capable of attaining partnership, and
strive to assist our associates in reaching this goal.
To this end, each associate is assigned a partner to
serve as his or her mentor. Mentors provide advice and
guidance as needed to assist associates in achieving
maximum success in professional and personal development.
KDDK associates are generally not
assigned to practice solely in a specific area, but rather
are given the opportunity to gain experience in a variety
of matters while working with many different attorneys
in the firm. As associates determine which practice areas
they enjoy, they are encouraged to seek work and acquire
expertise in those areas.
We maintain reasonable workload budgets
for our associates. In addition, KDDK associates are
encouraged to spend appropriate amounts of time on continuing
legal education, professional and personal development,
client development, and community activities. Most of
our lawyers are active in the community and serve on
one or two boards. We invite our associates to be themselves
and contribute in their own way.
First year associates receive three
month and six month performance reviews and all KDDK
associates receive annual performance reviews evaluating
strengths, weaknesses, and overall professional development.
