Mike Schopmeyer 2008 Volunteer of the Year
On September 25 partner Mike Schopmeyer
was named 2008 Volunteer of the Year by the Chamber of
Commerce of Southwest Indiana. Schopmeyer was recognized
at an awards dinner for more than 20 years of service
as a Chamber volunteer and past Board Chairman. Among
his most notable contributions, Schopmeyer was a pioneer
in the Chamber’s efforts to lobby for construction of
the mid-continent Interstate 69 through Southwestern Indiana
and Western Kentucky.
During his tenure as Chamber board chairman,
he championed the cause of a regionalized approach to
the business and civic issues facing the community.
In addition to serving the Chamber,
Schopmeyer has been an active volunteer serving the leadership
of Keep Evansville Beautiful, Inc., the Evansville Tree
Advisory Board, Christ the King Catholic Church, Economic
Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, Inc., Southwestern
Indiana Easter Seal Society and the Old Courthouse Preservation
Society.
A business attorney, Schopmeyer’s practice
areas include environmental, real estate, construction
and intellectual property law, zoning and property taxes,
economic development and education and health care law.
He graduated from the University of
Evansville with a bachelor’s degree in business administration
and earned his J.D. from Indiana University. Schopmeyer
has served KDDK business clientele since 1983.
