Governmental Unit Representation

Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn has been representing state and local governmental units, including boards (such as school boards), public utilities and other political subdivisions throughout our 100+ years.

In addition to serving as legal counsel for these various governmental units, many of KDDK’s attorneys enjoy an extensive history of serving on such boards, or as assistant government attorneys, as prosecutors, and as clerk to the State Board of Accounts.

KDDK has contributed services to a variety of governmental projects, including:

  • General and environmental contract negotiations;
  • Labor contracts;
  • Construction and financing issues; and
  • “Open door” and audit issues

Condemnation

In addition to the above projects, KDDK has extensive experience with condemnation and takings issues with regard to the State of Indiana and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) highway projects, particularly with the Lloyd Expressway, Interstate 164 and Interstate 69. 

Local Government Reorganization

KDDK has also been involved with the recent local government reorganization efforts and has represented the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Reorganization Committee.

Municipal Law

KDDK attorneys also advise and represent clients in municipal government matters such as eminent domain, property leasing, retail development, commercial office buildings, taxation, sales and acquisitions, construction contracting and environmental law.

A number of KDDK attorneys currently serve as officers for the Evansville Industrial Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce of Southwestern Indiana — or have worked closely with their members.
