Trump Appoints Miscimarra NLRB Acting Chairman

President Donald Trump appointed Philip A. Miscimarra Acting Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board (“NLRB” or “Board”) on January 23, 2017. Miscimarra has frequently disagreed with fellow members of the Board and we hope that with his interim appointment, President Trump will begin to recast the NLRB to reflect a more tempered point of view.

The five-member NLRB typically consists of three members of the president’s party and two members of the opposition. The Board currently has two vacancies, with Miscimarra the sole Republican member. Miscimarra was nominated to the NLRB by President Obama in 2013 and sworn-in on August 7, 2013. His four-year term expires December 16, 2017.
